In this course you will be introduced to St Teresa of Avila’s Interior Castle and what it represents.  We shall examine the first three mansions and the various stages of prayer which take place in these three mansions. The beginning mansions represent the ascetical stage of the spiritual life and are preparations for moving onto the mystical stage – the higher mansions.  In the lower mansions we are doing most of the work with the help of God’s grace, so that by our life of prayer and practise of the virtues, we will be invited to move up a little higher in the spiritual life.
